Fiat Croma - The bigger car from Fiat

The problem with most executive cars is that while they look sleek and sexy, they just don’t have enough space when it comes to packing up the children and heading away on holiday.

So when Fiat asked legendary Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro to design a vehicle that would satisfy the modern family’s demand for both the style of a saloon and the practicality of an MPV, he created the big new Fiat Croma.

Both taller than a saloon and longer than a compact MPV, the new Fiat Croma is incredibly spacious inside. With 90cm between the front and rear seats – more than any other car in its class – the new Croma can comfortably accommodate over 99% of adults in the back (and stop 99% of kids from kicking your seat). In the boot, the Croma’s unique modular luggage space can take 500 litres with the rear seats up or a huge 1610 litres with them down. It’s exactly what most families need in a car: the comfort of an MPV combined with the versatility of an estate.

With all that room in the back, you could be forgiven for expecting the Croma to handle like blancmange. But thanks to suspension that wouldn’t be out of place on a high performance sports car and a range of powerful engines that includes the award-winning 150bhp 1.9 litre 16v and the best-in-class 200bhp 2.4 litre 20v MultiJet turbodiesels, the Croma is as enjoyable to drive as any other top executive car.

Of course, with great power comes great responsibility – so every Croma comes with a huge range of safety equipment. For a start, seven airbags come as standard – including a special ’driver’s knee’ bag designed to protect the driver’s vulnerable lower limbs in head-on impacts – and two more rear side airbags are available as optional extras. And to make sure they’re not needed, you can rely on the Croma’s ABS brakes with electronic brake distribution to help keep you out of trouble.

Naturally, a car this big comes with a big list of standard equipment.

  • Electric windows
  • Air conditioning
  • Speed-sensitive power steering
  • A three litre cool box between the front seats
  • Remote central locking and alarm
  • 6 speaker radio/CD player with audio controls on the steering wheel
  • 16" alloy wheels are all included with the entry-level Dynamic.

Choose the Eleganza model and you’ll get:

  • Cruise control
  • Parking sensors
  • Fog lights
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • 17" alloy wheels

while the top-of-the-range Prestigio also comes with:

  • SkyDome sunroof: a huge, electrically-operated 1.5m² sunroof
  • A unique two position modular boot floor that can be raised to create a concealed storage space for your valuables
  • ESP with traction control and Hill Holder
  • Rear side window blinds and darkened windows
  • 6 disc CD changer
  • 18" alloys

There is one thing about the Croma that isn’t bigger than the competition, however, and that’s the price. Starting at just £15,995 on the road for the 1.9 120bhp MultiJet diesel Dynamic, and finishing at £21,995 on the road for the top-of-the-range 2.4 20v 200bhp MultiJet diesel Prestigio, there’s no doubt that the whole of the new Fiat Croma range offers amazing value for money.

To reassure customers of their purchase and underwrite Fiat’s confidence on its new model, the Croma offers a “Peace of Mind Package”, consisting of three years'/54,000 miles free servicing at an authorised Fiat dealer, and three years' comprehensive AA cover for just £199.

No wonder the new Croma has received big praise from the motoring press then. Autocar thinks that “it’s big and it’s clever… a worthwhile addition to the family car ranks”, while Auto Express considers the new Croma to be “one of the most practical five-seat cabins on the market”. Fleet World were particularly impressed by the fact that the new Croma “is undeniably spacious – both in the front and rear”, while Car Magazine applauded the car’s “premium feel that will surprise many”.

But why take their word for it? The new Croma  is now available at your local Fiat dealership so come down and see for yourself why it’s the biggest news to hit the executive car market for years. Call us on 0845 606 6619 or visit www.fiat.co.uk/croma to pre-book your test drive.
