Rover V8 To Order Now

(25 May 04)

Launched at the Geneva Show, and displaying one of those 2004 "basking shark" front ends, the Rover 75 V8 saloon and Tourer are now available to order, with Connoisseur SE and Contemporary SE trim levels.

Rover 75 14 - V8.Rover 75 14 - V8.Power comes from the 4.6-litre Ford Mustang V8 engine fitted to other models in the MG Rover catalogue, and used here in the 256bhp specification with 302lb/ft of torque. That allows the saloon to cover the 0-60mph sprint in 6.8 seconds and go on to a maximum of 151mph. Combined fuel consumption is 21.1mpg, and the CO2 rating is 319g/km.

As the flagship of the Rover range, the 75 V8 stands on a modified MG ZT 260 platform, but it's designed to be more refined and less sporty than the MG. The lavish interior of the Connoisseur SE is in Light Oak, while the Contemporary SE, which also features less chromework and has a "more overt" exterior appearance, features Dark Oak.

Prices start at £31,995 for the Connoisseur SE saloon, and as well as a wide range of options and accessories there's an SE Plus Pack model at £32,995, with the SE Navigation Pack version costing £34,995.
