| Toyota iQ Is Green Car Of The Year | ||
|
(Wed 16 Jun 10) The Environmental Transport Association has named the Toyota iQ as its Green Car of the Year for 2010, based on a rating system which takes into account power, fuel economy, CO2 emissions and noise.
On CO2 emissions alone the iQ is not the number one car in the UK (though at 99g/km it's pretty good), but its combined score puts it at the top of the 5000-plus models considered by the ETA. Right at the bottom of the list is the Lamborghini Murcielago. The ETA also divided its result into categories, as follows (best car shown first, then the worst in brackets): Small family car: Honda Insight (Volkswagen Golf R32). Large family car: BMW 320d (Vauxhall Insignia VXR). Supermini: Toyota Yaris 1.4 D-4D (Clio Renaultsport 200). City car: Toyota iQ (Ford Sportka). Sports car: Vauxhall Tigra (Lamborghini Murcielago). MPV: Peugeot Bipper Tepee (Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG). Small MPV: Renault Modus 1.5 dCi (Vauxhall Zafira VXR). Off-road car: BMW X1 E84 (Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG). Luxury car: BMW 740d (Bentley Brooklands). Comment on this story on Facebook or Twitter. Previous: Land Rover Discovery Wins Towcar Award Next: Renault Clio Gordini 200 Pricing |
