(Wed 30 Jun 10) Mazda has introduced a large range of limited-edition models for the summer. Three of them are called Takuya (Japanese for "forerunner" or "pioneer"), and they are based on the 2, 3 and 6. The 2 Takuya (pictured) is a 1.3-litre petrol five-door which comes with 16" alloy wheels, a sports bodykit, front foglights, black interior trim, a trip computer, leather steering wheel (with audio controls) and gearknob and a Parrot Bluetooth hands-free kit, and it costs from £11,915.
The 1.6 petrol Mazda3 Takuya costs £15,780, for which you get dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, sports seats, Bluetooth, a 6-CD changer, rain-sensing wipers and similar interior trim to the 2. The 6 Takuya comes in three forms - a two-litre petrol five-door hatchback and a 2.2 turbo diesel hatch or estate. In each case you get 18" alloy wheels, a sports grille, dusk-sensing headlights, alloy pedals, half-leather heated seats, an auto-dimming interior mirror, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning and, as with the other Takuya models, the leather steering wheel and gearknob. Meanwhile, Mazda is offering two special edition MX-5 models, both called Miyako (after the Japanese island Miyako-jima). One is a 1.8 soft-top, the other a more powerful 2.0 Roadster Coupé, and both come with front foglights, 17" alloy wheels, a front suspension strut brace, metallic paint, black leather interior trim with red highlights, floor mats, climate control air-conditioning and special floor mat. The 1.8 soft-top costs £18,385 while the 2.0 Roadster Coupé comes in at £20,885. Comment on this story on Facebook or Twitter.
