(Fri 28 May 10) Nissan's new compact crossover vehicle, the Juke, will be available to order in June and officially goes on sale in September, priced from £12,795.
The junior version of Nissan's crossover family, which already includes the Qashqai and Murano, comes with a choice of three engines: a 115bhp 1.6 petrol, a 108bhp 1.5 dCi turbo diesel (which will undoubtedly be cheaper to run but adds £1400 to the price) and, perhaps surprisingly, a 187bhp 1.6 direct injection turbo petrol. There are also three trim levels, named according to Nissan's now familiar but still odd system. The most basic is called Visia and provides 16" alloy wheels, ESP, six airbags and air-conditioning. Acenta costs £1000 more and adds 17" alloys, climate control, Bluetooth with USB connectivity and a centrally-mounted command and display module called the Dynamic Control System. Range-topping Tekna models get leather upholstery, the Nissan Connect audio/navigation system, a reversing camera and other bits and pieces for a further £2000. The trim level situation is complicated somewhat by the fact that there are two option packs for the Acenta. The £300 Sport Pack consists of a different wheel design, rear privacy glass and better seat fabric, while the £900 Premium Pack has the same plus Nissan Connect, the reversing camera and six audio speakers. Nearly all versions have front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, but CVT automatic transmission is available on Acenta and Tekna models. The 187bhp petrol engine can be specified with both the CVT and four-wheel drive, and in this form it's the most expensive Juke at £19,995. Thanks to the space taken up by the rear axle it also has the least luggage room (207 litres rather than the standard 251 with all the seats in place) and is also the only one built in Japan - all the others are being manufactured at Nissan's Sunderland plant. |
